The National Mississippi River Museum explores the mighty river through interactive displays, a chance to tour an actual steamboat, and several aquariums that feature animals from the river. Animals at the museum include Mississipi crocodiles, giant catfish, the playful cownose rays of the Gulf of Mexico. The museum is located on the riverfront, in the heart of downtown.
